Dramatic sunsets or vivid colours stimulate the senses and make exciting photographs, but often I just love to capture the tranquil and beautiful moments in nature when you have time to look. In this picture of Dun Laoghaire in Ireland the rhythm created by the vertical lines of the masts chimneys and even people against the soft background reflects the peace and calm I was feeling while enjoying the beauty.

out and about in winter
I have always been interested in photography, and going digital has really opened the doors for me. I use it with my phone to copy information, send interesting moments to friends and even for quick pics while drawing such as a figure in the scene that may move on before I have chance to sketch it. At hand is also my compact which has really good zoom and resolution for that unexpected moment when the DSLR is at studio.

So often when visiting London I gravitate with my camera to one of the parks or gardens. Naturally after spending so much time looking and photographing the desire to paint some of the scenes is there, and this is one of them.
